Grade 11 Religious Studies
(RS11)

This course is designed to give students from varied religious backgrounds an appreciation of the World Religions.   This course will center on the origin of religion and proposes a definition of religions which hopefully leads to religious awareness and the role of religion in modern society.   Basic facts of each of the religions will be learned and presented through various approaches: research/reading, group discussions, reporting, video viewing, etc. The historical development of the religion, its foundation, basic teachings, current trends, are some of the major areas that will be covered in this process.

The goal of Religions in the World is not simply to define religion and its expression as one found today.   Its goal is to help the students to better understand people - they can do so if they understand their religious orientation.
